The Origin of DIARIES
Seniors have a unique and precious “age-perspective” resource of rare vintage experience, knowledge, wisdom and inspiring stories needing to be written and preserved before they are lost forever.
Will, a former retired publisher and Janet, a successful business entrepreneur, are both seniors, who got together last October 2025 to create an easy means by which seniors could have their stories published and shared with other seniors.
They created Diaries: seniors writing for seniors.
Since then, more and more seniors have heard about the site, and sent in their personal stories, and the initial vision of Diaries has grown and expanded exponentially to fulfill a need far greater than expected.
The “voice” of seniors now has an appreciative audience to both entertain and to inspire other seniors.
The Two Seniors behind DIARIES
Janet Benedict
Janet Benedict has spent her career building connections, inspiring entrepreneurs, and helping people share their stories.
After 22 years in Corporate Canada, where she trained and motivated thousands, Janet went on to build and successfully sell her own marketing company. She later founded The Canadian Networker, creating a community dedicated to networking, learning, and supporting entrepreneurs.
But as retirement approached, Janet realized that her next chapter would be about something much closer to her heart.
Together with her co-founder, Will, Janet created Diaries — a place where seniors can share the stories, adventures, memories, and experiences that have shaped their lives.
For Janet, Diaries is more than a collection of stories. It is about connection, preserving memories, celebrating life experiences, and making sure the voices of seniors continue to be heard.
She delights in discovering the wonderful stories shared by Diaries writers and believes that every story matters, every memory has meaning, and every connection is worth celebrating.
Will Brubacher
Will was a successful, award-winning 35-year career professional publisher both nationally and internationally who recognized after retiring, the need to give seniors their own voice that could be heard locally, nationally and internationally, and created Diaries.
Shortly, thereafter, his co-founder Janet, a successful entrepreneur, also shared his vision and together they developed what Diaries is today, with all of it’s potential for expansion and service to the adult-senior community in expressing and sharing their unique identity.
